The Department of Obstetrics and Prenatal Medicine at the University Hospital of Halle (Saale) under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Michael Tschirikov offers the entire spectrum of services in the process of normal delivery. There is maintained a close cooperation with the Departments of Pediatrics within the Perinatal Center (Level 1) in order to ensure an immediate provision of all necessary measures in case of some complications.

Furthermore, the employees of the Department provide care and treatment of the pregnant women in a risk group as well as the treatment of diseases of both mother and child during the pregnancy. The Department of Obstetrics and Prenatal Medicine at the University Hospital of Halle (Saale) under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. Michael Tschirikov is one of the few centers in Germany, which perform fetal surgery in case of rare diseases, such as twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), fetal congenital diaphragmatic hernia or obstructive uropathy.
